Softball Game Preview: Davidson Warriors vs. Baker Hornets

Davidson is 0-10 against Baker since April of 2021 but things could change on Monday. The Warriors will host the Hornets at 4:30 p.m. Davidson has given up an average of 8.7 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Davidson is headed into Monday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Wednesday. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 16-0 to Mary G. Montgomery, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

Meanwhile, Baker faced Spanish Fort in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Hornets fell just short of the Toros by a score of 5-4. The Hornets just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Lauren Mordecai and Maddie Stuart did some serious damage despite the final result: Mordecai scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Stuart went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that Stuart hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylee Boddie, who scored a run while going 3-for-3.

Davidson's defeat dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Baker, their loss dropped their record down to 20-11.
