Basketball Game Preview: Buchtel Griffins vs. Dunbar Wolverines

The Buchtel Griffins will challenge the Dunbar Wolverines at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Buchtel knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten matches -- so hopefully Dunbar likes a good challenge.

Buchtel took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. Couldn't have asked for a better way to wrap up 2024 than the 83-38 stomp they got against East. The Griffins have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 25 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Dunbar came up short against Aiken on Thursday and fell 67-58. While losing is never fun, the Wolverines can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 320th, while the Falcons are ranked 13th).

Buchtel's victory bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Dunbar, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-5.

Buchtel didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Dunbar in their previous matchup back in January of 2022, but they still walked away with a 70-66 win. Does Buchtel have another victory up their sleeve, or will Dunbar turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
