Volleyball Recap: Alanna Voter and Maggie Hickey Secure Win for Messalonskee

Messalonskee waltzed into their match on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Brunswick Dragons 3-0. The Eagles have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Dragons, too.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Messalonskee took every set by at least ten points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-5, 25-14.

Leading Messalonskee to victory were Maggie Hickey and Alanna Voter. Hickey had eight aces and eight assists, while Voter had ten digs and three aces. Those eight aces gave Hickey a new career-high.

They weren't the only good servers: Messalonskee was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 30 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.

The win got Messalonskee back to even at 5-5. As for Brunswick, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Coming up, after both having extra time off, Messalonskee and Mt. Ararat will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Brunswick, they have already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against Brewer on the 30th.
