Basketball Recap: Cypress Lake Comes Up Short

Cypress Lake was the 73-57 winner over Cape Coral when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Cypress Lake Panthers had to suffer through a 69-36 loss at the hands of the Cape Coral Seahawks. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 633rd, while the Seahawks are ranked 282nd).

Cypress Lake is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.0 points per game. As for Cape Coral, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cypress Lake will challenge Fort Myers at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Fort Myers' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four contests. As for Cape Coral, they will face off against Dunbar at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cape Coral has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
