Waltrip dropped down to 5-2 on Friday, ending the team's five-game streak of wins. The matchup between the Rams and the Westbury Huskies didn't end well, with the Rams falling 42-28. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Rams of the 18-14 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

Despite the defeat, Waltrip had strong showings from Zyon Gamble, who rushed for 130 yards while picking up 7.6 yards per carry, and James 'Jimmy' Haren, who threw for 192 yards and a pair of TDs.

Even if they lost, Waltrip's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Zion Johnson, Christopher Grisham, and Prince Wright, who each picked up one sack apiece.

As for Westbury, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-1. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 35.5 points over those games.

Among those leading the charge was Dareus Hubbard, who rushed for 81 yards and one touchdown on only seven carries. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in September of 2024.

Looking ahead, Waltrip will challenge Austin at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Mustangs will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last. As for Westbury, they will head out to face off against Sharpstown at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Huskies will be up against the Apollos' rather soft defense (which has allowed 40 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
