Baseball Game Preview: Lancaster Eagles vs. Vasquez Mustangs

The Lancaster Eagles will face off against the Vasquez Mustangs at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Lancaster will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

It was a Battle of the Birds when Lancaster duked it out with Knight on Friday. The Eagles put the hurt on the Hawks with a sharp 14-2 victory. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 contests by seven runs or more this season.

Lancaster got a massive performance out of Payton Gaitan, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Gaitan has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Wood, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Lancaster hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in six consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Vasquez's offense. They came up short against Quartz Hill on Thursday, falling 10-0. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Mustangs were not able to get on the board.

Vasquez has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-10-1 record this season. As for Lancaster, their win bumped their record up to 12-10.
