Baseball Recap: Century Snaps Three-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Century was forced to take a big defeat against they on Monday, they got the better of them on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Newberg Tigers by a score of 5-1. This was a revenge game for the Jaguars: when they faced off against the Tigers on Monday, they had to take a 6-0 loss.

Kale Naone spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up seven Ks. Century is 3-1 when Naone allows one or fewer earned runs, but 8-13 otherwise.

At the plate, Century saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jace Willet, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. That triple marked the first that Willet has hit this season. Another was Lucas Gardner, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.

Century's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-14. As for Newberg, they dropped their record down to 13-12 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.

Century will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Tigers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
