Softball Game Preview: Hargrave Falcons vs. Hamshire-Fannett Longhorns

Hargrave is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will head out on the road to challenge the Hamshire-Fannett Longhorns at 6:00 p.m. Neither Hargrave nor Hamshire-Fannett posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Hargrave came into their game on Saturday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 8-0 to Santa Fe.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Hamshire-Fannett and Little Cypress-Mauriceville, and Hamshire-Fannett kept the tradition alive. Hamshire-Fannett came up short against Little Cypress-Mauriceville on Tuesday, falling 7-0.

Hamshire-Fannett has also traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-6-2 record this season. Hargrave's defeat dropped their record down to 9-5.

Hargrave came out on top in a nail-biter against Hamshire-Fannett in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, sneaking past 6-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hargrave since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
