Austin took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Mayo, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Packers had just enough and edged out the Spartans 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Packers have posted against the Spartans since April 21, 2016.

Kaydence Schaefer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on ten hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Charlee Cunningham, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Quinn Osgood was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Austin kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Austin now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Mayo, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 7-1.
