Baseball Recap: Glenville Tarblooders vs. Rhodes Rams
Glenville extended their losing streak to five on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 1-6 in the process. They lost 15-3 to the Rhodes Rams. If the Tarblooders were looking for revenge after losing 17-2 to the Rams when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
As for Rhodes, their victory bumped their record up to 12-2. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won six contests by ten runs or more so far this season.
For Rhodes' part, Roberto Benitez was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run but no hits. Benitez was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his five plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.
In other batting news, Wilmer Reyes was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Luis Vasquez, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Glenville will venture away from home to face off against Maple Heights at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Rhodes, they will face off against Andrews Osborne Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Rams will need to watch out since the Phoenix have now posted at least ten runs every time they've taken the field this season.
