Volleyball Recap: Westfield's Winning Streak Snapped at Nine Games

It was a good run, but Westfield unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-game winning streak on Saturday. They came up short against the Newton North Tigers, falling 3-0. The match marked the first time this season in which the Bombers were not able to get on the board.

The loss didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Newton North scored at least 20 points in every set. The final score came out to 25-22, 25-22, 25-20.

Zachary kukharchuk paced Westfield's offense, picking up 14 kills. KuKharchuK got some help from Max Yurtuc and his 25 assists. Nolan Rodgers controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Westfield's defeat dropped their record down to 11-2. As for Newton North, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Westfield will venture away from home to challenge Agawam at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Brownies will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something the Bombers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Newton North, they will head out to square off against Framingham at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
