Basketball Game Preview: Lausanne Collegiate Lynx vs. St. Benedict at Auburndale Eagles

Lausanne Collegiate is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Friday. They will be playing at home against the St. Benedict at Auburndale Eagles at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in Lausanne Collegiate's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.

Lausanne Collegiate took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Crosstown 83-41. The Lynx not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since November 20, 2024 (when they won 65-20).

Lausanne Collegiate got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Imir 'Trey' Harper out in front who went 8-for-13 on his way to 19 points and five steals. Thanks to that strong game, Harper now owns an excellent 47.2% field goal percentage. The team also got some help courtesy of Zuri McClure, who almost dropped a double-double with 17 points and nine rebounds.

Lausanne Collegiate was working as a unit and finished the game with 26 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, St. Benedict at Auburndale was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 52-48 heartbreaker at the hands of Evangelical Christian.

Lausanne Collegiate's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for St. Benedict at Auburndale, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.

Lausanne Collegiate didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against St. Benedict at Auburndale when the teams last played back in December of 2024, but they still walked away with a 58-52 victory. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was the Eagles' Trey Taylor, who shot 54% from the field en route to 21 points. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will the Lynx still be able to contain Taylor? There's only one way to find out.
