Softball Recap: Carrollwood Day Sets Scoring Season-High Against St. Petersburg Catholic

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Carrollwood Day). Everything went their way against the St. Petersburg Catholic Barons on Thursday as the Carrollwood Day Patriots made off with a 17-6 win. The victory continues a trend for the Patriots in their matchups with the Barons: they've now won three in a row.

Maya Fuller made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Furthermore, she didn't allow a single walk, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in March of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Olivia Fuller was a standout: she scored three runs and stole Four bases. while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Julia Antinori, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Carrollwood Day always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .686. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Petersburg Catholic only posted an OBP of .333.

Carrollwood Day's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for St. Petersburg Catholic, they dropped their record down to 0-3 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Carrollwood Day will venture away from home to take on Foundation Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for St. Petersburg Catholic, they will welcome Southeast at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Southeast has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 25 runs per game on average), something St. Petersburg Catholic will no doubt try to take advantage of.
