Basketball Recap: Jordan Boyce's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Laguna Creek over Edison

Laguna Creek was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 58-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Edison Vikings. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 560th, while the Vikings are ranked 215th).

Several Cardinals players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jordan Boyce, who went 7 of 14 en route to 20 points. The match was Boyce's third in a row with at least ten points. Titus King was another key player, putting up ten points and six boards.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Edison to victory, but perhaps none more so than Isaiah Coilton, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds. That's the most points Coilton has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Alonzo Ward, who went 5 for 11 on his way to 13 points and six boards.

Laguna Creek's loss dropped their record down to 5-13. As for Edison, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-8.

Laguna Creek didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 65-62 victory against Pleasant Grove on the 22nd. As for Edison, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 68-50 win against Chavez on the 22nd.
