Basketball Recap: Ryann Unruh's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Loveland over Winton Woods

Loveland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a hard 54-40 fall against the Winton Woods Warriors. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 293rd, while the Warriors are ranked first).

Loveland's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ryann Unruh, who posted five points along with seven assists and six rebounds. Unruh has been hot recently, having also posted two or more blocks the last four times she's played. Bella Rogers was another key player, going 5 for 10 en route to 10 points and six boards.

Loveland's loss dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Winton Woods, their win was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-0.

When Loveland and Winton Woods next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Loveland will square off against Milford and their five-game winning streak at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Winton Woods will try to stop Lebanon's three-game winning streak when the meet at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
