Baseball Game Preview: Tates Creek Commodores vs. Corbin Redhounds

The Tates Creek Commodores will take on the Corbin Redhounds at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The last three games Tates Creek has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

While Tates Creek's victory against Scott County wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Commodores narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Cardinals 5-4. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Garrett Biroschik looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Tates Creek saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Finley Insko, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Corbin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 8-4 to South Laurel, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

Tates Creek's victory bumped their record up to 9-12. As for Corbin, their loss dropped their record down to 17-12.

Tates Creek took their win against Corbin when the teams last played back in March by a conclusive 17-4 score. Do the Commodores have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Redhounds turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
