Basketball Recap: Mullen Picks Up 11th Straight Win at Home

Mullen waltzed into their game on Thursday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They walked away with a 47-38 victory over the Paxton Tigers. For the Broncos, this counts as revenge for the 34-22 win the Tigers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.

Mullen's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Hayley Donohoe led the charge by almost dropping a double-double with 17 points and nine boards. Another player making a difference was Riley Hegland, who posted nine points along with five rebounds and five steals.

Mullen smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 28 consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Paxton lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Jaleigh Hansen, who earned 15 points. Jordan Clouse was another key player, putting up nine points and four steals.

Mullen pushed their record up to 19-2 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.1 points over those games. As for Paxton, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-9.

As of now, neither Mullen nor Paxton have any future games scheduled.
