Basketball Recap: Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Comes Up Short

After flying high against Osakis last Thursday, Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa came back down to earth. The Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Jaguars were just a bucket shy of victory on Tuesday and fell 54-53 to the Upsala Cardinals. The Jaguars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cardinals apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Upsala's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Samantha Pilarski led the charge by going 10 of 19 en route to 26 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. That's the most points Pilarski has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Dakota Soltis, who went 7 for 15 on her way to 18 points and five assists.

Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa's loss dropped their record down to 13-7. As for Upsala, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season.

Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa has already played their next contest (against Holdingford), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Upsala has also has no score uploaded for their next game, this one against Browerville.
