Volleyball Recap: St. Cloud Takes a Loss + How To Watch

St. Cloud extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 8-10. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Gateway Panthers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 two weeks ago.

Tessa Rojas paced St. Cloud's offense, picking up 17 kills. Rojas got some help from Monica Gallagher and her 19 assists. Trinity Urban controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

As for Gateway, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted against St. Cloud since September 21, 2022.

Gateway found their leader in sophomore Leimarys Padro Torres, who had 15 digs and three assists. Padro Torres has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more digs the last three times she's played. Gabriela Alvarez also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

St. Cloud has already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Poinciana on the 13th. As for Gateway, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Colonial on the 9th.
