Preview: Goodridge/Grygla Chargers vs. Clearbrook-Gonvick Bears
Goodridge/Grygla and Clearbrook-Gonvick are an even 5-5 against one another since November of 2018, but not for long. The Goodridge/Grygla Chargers will head out on the road to take on the Clearbrook-Gonvick Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Goodridge/Grygla has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,663 points over their last 23 contests.
Goodridge/Grygla pushed their score all the way to 70 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They received a tough blow as they fell 84-70 to Thief River Falls. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (67), Goodridge/Grygla still had to take the loss.
Meanwhile, Clearbrook-Gonvick's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight defeat. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 89-69 to Red Lake County Central, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Goodridge/Grygla's defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 18-5. As for Clearbrook-Gonvick, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-15.
Goodridge/Grygla beat Clearbrook-Gonvick 75-62 when the teams last played back in December of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Goodridge/Grygla since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
