These are the unmistakable signs of Autumn in coastal Alabama: the leaves change color, the monarch butterflies begin their migration, the Satsuma oranges begin to ripen and Bayside Academy wins a volleyball state championship.

The Admirals have been a force in volleyball in Alabama for close to four decades. Under coach Ann Schilling, Bayside Academy has won 20 straight state championships and has collected a national record 30 state titles overall.

Bayside Academy tops the MaxPreps list of the most volleyball state championships, which is the newest addition to the MaxPreps National High School Volleyball Record Book.

The Admirals lead a list of 75 schools across the country with 12 or more state championships.

The MaxPreps National High School Volleyball Record Book now includes team records along with coaching records and individual records for a single game, a single season and a career.

Bayside Academy is ranked No. 2 in the Alabama Class 4A state rankings by MaxPreps with a 38-11 record.
