Basketball Recap: Richmond Takes a Loss

Richmond played a tough game on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by the Westfield Shamrocks and fell 71-21. The Red Devils were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-4.

Westfield got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jalen Malone out in front who went 5 for 6 on his way to 11 points and six assists. The dominant performance gave Malone a new career-high in assists. Drew Haffner was another key player, going 5 of 6 on his way to 14 points.

Richmond's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Westfield, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-1.

Richmond will face off against Indianapolis HomeSchool Wildcats on Thursday. Indianapolis HomeSchool Wildcats knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven contests -- so hopefully Richmond likes a good challenge. As for Westfield, they will challenge Marion at 7:30 p.m. on January 4, 2025.
