Recap: Rootstown Rovers vs. Southeast Pirates
The Rootstown Rovers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 61-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Southeast. Rootstown has struggled against Southeast recently, as their contest on Friday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Garrett Sprutte was his usual excellent self, scoring 28 points along with eight rebounds for Southeast. The game was Sprutte's seventh in a row with at least ten points.
Rootstown has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season. As for Southeast, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-2.
Rootstown won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Chippewa at 7:00 p.m. on January 6th. Chippewa is on a three-game streak of home losses, Rootstown a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. Southeast will take on Springfield at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Springfield focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Thursday.
