Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the Cypress Lakes Spartans walked away with it. They managed a 44-40 win over the Cougars on Tuesday. The victory was familiar territory for Cypress Lakes who now have five in a row.

Aniah Alexis was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 26 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it 26 consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Cypress Lakes' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Makennah Alexis, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and five steals.

Tomball's loss came despite strong showings from Mallory Lehmann and Amelia Preston. Lehmann scored 14 points along with two steals, while Preston scored five points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lehmann has scored all season.

Cypress Lakes has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 23-10 record this season. As for Tomball, their defeat dropped their record down to 25-10.

Cypress Lakes will take on Westfield at TBD on Thursday. Hopefully Cypress Lakes is not getting complacent considering they own a much higher rank in Texas (they are ranked 110th, while Westfield is ranked 497th). Tomball does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
