Basketball Recap: Catasauqua Extends Winning Streak to Three

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Catasauqua walked away with it. They came out on top against the Minersville Battlin' Miners by a score of 61-50 on Saturday. The win was all the more spectacular given the Rough Riders' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 266th, while the Battlin' Miners are ranked 61st).

Despite the loss, Minersville still got an impressive performance from Dante Carr, who dropped a double-double with 21 points and 12 rebounds. Those 12 boards gave Carr a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Shazier Bethea, who went 5-for-10 on his way to 13 points.

The victory was the third in a row for Catasauqua, bringing their record for this year to 14-10. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.0 points over those games. As for Minersville, their loss dropped their record down to 22-5.

Catasauqua does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Minersville, they will face off against Warrior Run at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Minersville is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.4 points per game this season.
