Basketball Recap: Northside Christian Takes a Loss

Northside Christian lost against Shorecrest Prep back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Northside Christian Mustangs fell 65-56 to the Shorecrest Prep Chargers. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (55), the Mustangs still had to take the loss.

When it comes to explaining why Northside Christian lost, don't look at Elijah Ahlers. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 25 points and ten boards. Ahlers has been hot, having posted nine or more rebounds the last five times he's played. Jaycen White was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Shorecrest Prep had a senior duo take command as Nickolas Bearden posted 26 points and Ahmad Crumity earned 20 points. Those 20 points gave Crumity a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Damarion Feaster, who put up eight points.

Northside Christian has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season. As for Shorecrest Prep, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-4.

Northside Christian won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Admiral Farragut at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Admiral Farragut knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Northside Christian likes a good challenge. As for Shorecrest Prep, they and Calvary Christian will face off at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Calvary Christian will roll in looking for their 13th straight victory, something Shorecrest Prep surely won't give up without a fight.
