Basketball Recap: Round Mountain Gets the Win

Round Mountain won the last time they faced Beatty and Jordan Penson did his part to make sure it happened again. The Knights enjoyed a cozy 47-29 victory over the Hornets on Friday thanks in part to Penson, who dropped a double-double with 23 points and 13 rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last three games he's played.

The win got Round Mountain back to even at 5-5. As for Beatty, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-9.

Looking ahead, Round Mountain will take on Mineral County in a tournament on Friday. The Knights will need to watch out since the Serpents have now posted at least 55 points in their last four contests. As for Beatty, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Tonopah at 6:30 p.m. on January 9, 2026.
