Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pebble Hills). They blew past the Coronado Thunderbirds 20-2 on Saturday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 19-1 back in March.
Pebble Hills got a great performance from Alyssa Ramos as she tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. Ramos has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Daniela Armendariz was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Isabel Ramos was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
Pebble Hills was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .600. They are 6-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Pebble Hills' win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-17. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for Coronado, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-21.
