Basketball Recap: Delta Takes a Loss

Delta has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They lost to the Monroe Central Golden Bears at home by a 54-38 margin on Tuesday. The game marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Despite the loss, Delta still got an impressive performance from Jillian Barr, who went 7 of 15 on her way to 18 points along with six boards and four steals. The contest was Barr's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Gracie Maurer, who posted eight points and four blocks.

Monroe Central was led to victory by Sydney Patterson and Abe Ervin. Patterson went 8 for 17 en route to 23 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals, while Ervin went 8 of 9 on her way to 19 points along with six boards and three steals. Patterson has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 12 times she's played. Addy Puckett was another key player, putting up four points in addition to five assists and three steals.

Delta's loss dropped their record down to 14-6. As for Monroe Central, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Delta will face off against Mt. Vernon at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Monroe Central, they will challenge Blue River Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
