Baseball Game Preview: The First Academy Royals vs. Loganville Red Devils

The First Academy Royals will challenge the Loganville Red Devils at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (The First Academy: 3, Loganville: 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Loganville will be up against a hot The First Academy squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The First Academy sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 win over Florence on Thursday. The three-run effort marked the Royals' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

The First Academy got a great performance from Thomas Achey as he struck out 11 batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts Achey has posted since back in February of 2024.

On the hitting side, The First Academy's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Erick Martinez, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Loganville). Everything went their way against Sparkman on Thursday as Loganville made off with a 10-3 win. The high-scoring effort was just what the Red Devils needed considering they were shutout in their previous game.

Loganville's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for The First Academy, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.
