Football Recap: Sheridan Starts Season with Victory Against White Hall

Sheridan had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the White Hall Bulldogs 58-28. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Yellowjackets had established a 24-point advantage.

Sheridan was led to victory by Zay Stephens and Dax McMellon. Stephens gained 225 total yards and four touchdowns, while McMellon threw for 481 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 10.9 yards per attempt. Stephens' rushing production has been exceptional for a while as that marked his ninth straight game with at least 111 rushing yards dating back to last season. Wylie Depriest was another key player, picking up 102 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

Sheridan was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 206 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as White Hall only rushed for 62 rushing yards.

When it comes to explaining why White Hall lost, don't look at Kel McEntire. Despite the final result, he picked up 109 receiving yards, and also rushed for 45 yards.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sheridan will look to takes advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they takes on Lakeside at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for White Hall, they will face off against Warren at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
