Baseball Game Preview: Valley Union Blue Devils vs. Duncan Wildkats

The Valley Union Blue Devils will venture away from home to square off against the Duncan Wildkats at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Valley Union is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.

Valley Union is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Mogollon just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Thursday. They lost 10-4 to the Mustangs.

Dylan Mitchell was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 13 runs the game before, Duncan was a bit more limited in their matchup on Thursday. They came up short against St. David, falling 17-1. The contest marked the Wildkats' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Duncan saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Joe Nandino, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Valley Union's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Duncan, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-4.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Valley Union has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Duncan struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Everything went Valley Union's way against Duncan in their previous meeting back in March, as Valley Union made off with a 13-2 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blue Devils since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
