Baseball Recap: Pomperaug Find Success

Pomperaug took a eight-run loss the last time they faced off against Masuk, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Pomperaug never let Masuk get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Pomperaug has posted since April 9, 2024.

The result came thanks to Brandon Schussler's shutout, as he gave up just four hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kyle Parker, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Pomperaug's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 2-1 (and 3-8 when he doesn't).

Pomperaug's victory bumped their record up to 5-9. As for Masuk, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-7.
