Softball Recap: Mount Tabor Has No Trouble Against R.J. Reynolds

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against West Forsyth, Mount Tabor was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They blew past the R.J. Reynolds Demons 27-12. The win continues a trend for the Spartans in their matchups with the Demons: they've now won seven in a row.

Mary Schutt was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Schutt was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Mount Tabor got a massive performance out of Ella-Ashleigh Fulp, who scored five runs and stole a base while going 4-for-5. Alexa Babcock was another key player, going 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Mount Tabor was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .472. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as R.J. Reynolds only posted a batting average of .214.

The victory got Mount Tabor back to even at 1-1. As for R.J. Reynolds, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Mount Tabor will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on East Forsyth at 6:00 p.m. on March 18th. Mount Tabor is facing East Forsyth at the right time seeing as East Forsyth is stuck on a four-game losing streak. After both having extra time off, R.J. Reynolds and Parkland will dust off their jerseys to take on one another at 5:00 p.m. on March 18th. R.J. Reynolds has given up an average of 22.8 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
