Baseball Recap: Coral Reef Comes Up Short

Coral Reef had lost 13 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 4-16-1 to make it 14. They fell 5-0 to the Southridge Spartans. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Barracudas of the 7-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2025.

As for Southridge, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-4. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last eight times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

For Southridge's part, Coral Reef's batters probably weren't too happy with Amari Davis, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 15 Ks (he gave up two walks).

On the hitting side, Chris Gonzalez was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Francis Garcia, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Coming up, Coral Reef will host Somerset Academy (Silver Palms) at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Barracudas' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Stallions have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season. As for Southridge, they will head out on the road to square off against Key West at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Spartans 2.9, the Conchs 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
