Football Recap: St. Peter's Eagles vs. St. John the Baptist Cougars
St. Peter had to take a loss the last time they faced off against St. John the Baptist but Jeremiah Williams made sure they didn't get the same satisfaction on Saturday. The St. Peter's Eagles took down the St. John the Baptist Cougars 31-13 thanks in part to Williams, who rushed for 155 yards and two touchdowns. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 125 rushing yards.
St. Peter's wouldn't let St. John the Baptist keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. St. Peter's can thank James Gioia Jr. and Mario Visone for forcing both of them.
Maurice Scott and Brayden Mangan certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Scott threw for 178 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 passes, while Mangan picked up 68 receiving yards and two touchdowns. The dominant performance also gave Scott a new career-high in rushing yards (29).
The win was the fourth in a row for St. Peter's, bringing their record for this year to 8-2. As for St. John the Baptist, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.
