Basketball Recap: Will Seward Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Laney

Hoggard won the last time they faced Laney and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Hoggard Vikings walked away with a 47-39 win over the Laney Buccaneers. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Vikings.

Hoggard's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Will Seward led the charge by going 5-for-7 to rack up 11 points along with eight boards and five blocks. Seward is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last 12 games he's played. Porter Morgan also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Colin Lamb and Jordan Mosley certainly did their best on Wednesday to avoid the loss. Lamb went 8-for-18 on his way to 18 points and three steals, while Mosley almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds. Lamb continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.

Hoggard's victory bumped their record up to 21-4. As for Laney, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-8.

Looking ahead, Hoggard will challenge New Hanover at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. New Hanover will roll in looking for their 21st straight win, something Hoggard surely won't give up without a fight. Laney does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
