Softball Recap: Germantown's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Sunday

Germantown dropped their record down to 7-9 on Sunday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Catskill Cats. The Clippers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cats earlier this season, when they won 10-6.

Emma Schmidt spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

As for Catskill, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games.

On Catskill's side, the result came thanks to Annika Passaretti's shutout, as she gave up just two hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ava Edmonds, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

As of now, neither Germantown nor Catskill have any future games scheduled.
