Softball Recap: Blacksburg Wins Going Away Against Patrick Henry

While Blacksburg put up some runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Patrick Henry. The Bruins put the hurt on the Patriots with a sharp 10-0 victory. The high-scoring effort was just what the Bruins needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.

Madelyn Williams made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Williams was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Clara McMahon and Aubrey Hudgins did most of the damage at the plate: McMahon went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI, while Hudgins scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. That home run marked the first that McMahon launched this season. Another player making a difference was Sydney Deane, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI.

Blacksburg's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Patrick Henry, they dropped their record down to 1-5 with the loss, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Blacksburg will take on Auburn at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Bruins 3, the Eagles 2.6) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Patrick Henry, they will face off against Christiansburg at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Patriots' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Blue Demons have averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season.
