Northeastern extended their winning streak to five on Saturday, bumping them up to 8-2. They blew past the Cowan Blackhawks 10-1. Considering the Knights have won four games by more than eight runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Jarrett Leitner made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

In other batting news, Northeastern let Logan Seal and Riley Isaacs run wild. Seal went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs, while Isaacs went 1-for-2 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Aiden Shaffer was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one double.

Northeastern was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cowan only posted a batting average of .250.

As for Cowan, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-3. The contest marked their lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

On Cowan's side, they saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lucas Terrell, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

Coming up, Northeastern will square off against Union City at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Indians have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.22 runs per game on average), something the Knights will no doubt try to take advantage of. Cowan has already played their next game (against Seton Catholic), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
