Baseball Game Preview: Mar Vista Mariners vs. Lincoln Hornets

The Mar Vista Mariners are taking a road trip to face off against the Lincoln Hornets at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lincoln took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Mar Vista, who comes in off a win.

Mar Vista not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 11, 2024. Everything went their way against Canyon Hills as Mar Vista made off with a 7-1 win.

Peter Thomas made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over 5.1 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Mar Vista let Elijah Quinones and Bryan Espinoza run wild. Quinones scored two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances, while Espinoza scored two runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. That's the most runs Quinones has posted since back in April of 2024. Aden Duran also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, Lincoln was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Mount Miguel. The contest marked the Hornets' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Lincoln's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Mar Vista, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
