Waterloo came tearing into Thursday's matchup with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Shoals Christian Flame by a score of 8-5. That's two games straight that the Cougars have won by exactly three runs.

Georgiana Kavich spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Addison Benson, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in runs.

Waterloo's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-4. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Shoals Christian, they now have a losing record of 8-9.
