Softball Recap: Malvern Comes Up Short

After soaring to 15 runs the game before, Malvern was a bit more limited in their contest on Wednesday. They came up short against the Newcomerstown Trojans, falling 17-1. The Hornets haven't had much luck with the Trojans recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Malvern saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ashlyn Bush, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

Malvern's defeat dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Newcomerstown, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Malvern will face off against Buckeye Trail at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Newcomerstown, they will challenge New Philadelphia at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Quakers' pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so the Trojans' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
