Softball Recap: Dixie Comes Up Short

If Dixie was feeling good fresh off their 16-1 takedown of Thornwell on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Hornets came up short against the Strom Thurmond Rebels on Thursday, falling 18-5. The Hornets were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Rebels earlier this season, when they won 10-6.

Dixie has also been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-6 record this season. As for Strom Thurmond, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-10.

Looking ahead, Dixie will welcome Ware Shoals at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Strom Thurmond, they will venture away from home to square off against Ninety Six at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Rebels' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season.
