Basketball Recap: Arizona Lutheran Academy Extends Home Winning Streak to 17

Arizona Lutheran Academy had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.8 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Saturday. They pulled ahead with a 37-36 photo finish over the Pima Roughriders. For the Coyotes, this counts as revenge for the 48-31 victory the Roughriders walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.

Pima lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Kelsi Brimhall, who posted 15 points. Brimhall is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played. Hanna Ashby was another key player, putting up nine points and three steals.

Arizona Lutheran Academy pushed their record up to 17-2 with the win, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.9 points per game. As for Pima, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 17-6 record this season.

Arizona Lutheran Academy will head out to square off against Rancho Solano Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Pima, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lincoln Prep at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pima's defense has only allowed 27.7 points per game this season, so Lincoln Prep's offense will have their work cut out for them.
