Basketball Recap: Crest Skates Past North Gaston with Ease

Crest won against A.C. Reynolds last Wednesday with 69 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. The Crest Chargers took their match with ease, bagging a 69-24 victory over the North Gaston Wildcats. With the Chargers ahead 34-13 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Crest was led to victory by Cal Pass Jr. and Omari Faulkner. Pass Jr. went 6 for 14 on his way to 12 points in addition to eight boards and six steals, while Faulkner went 8 of 11 on his way to 16 points and four steals. The dominant performance gave Faulkner a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of D'Various Surratt, who posted 12 points.

Crest was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Gaston only racked up four assists.

North Gaston's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jaylen Hill, who put up five points and six rebounds, and Jalen Howard, who had ten points in addition to five boards and three blocks.

The win made it two in a row for Crest and bumps their season record up to 2-0. As for North Gaston, they moved to 4-4 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Crest will head out to take on Shelby at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Shelby's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for North Gaston, they will host Huss at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Huss knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three games -- so hopefully North Gaston likes a good challenge.
