With a playoff win on the line, Nova rose to the challenge on Thursday. They blew past the Coral Springs Colts, posting a 78-22 victory. The Titans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 18 matches by 21 points or more this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Nova to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jaelynn Housey, who posted 18 points in addition to six boards and five assists. Housey has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last ten times she's played. Another player making a difference was Ke'Mora Evans, who had 13 points along with eight assists and six rebounds.
Nova smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 11 consecutive games.
Several Colts players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Janyah Holmes, who scored six points and five boards. Those five rebounds gave Holmes a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Nethania Noel-Jeune, who earned eight points.
Nova has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 21-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.3 points over those games. As for Coral Springs, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 15-10.
Looking ahead, Nova will challenge Martin County at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Martin County will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Nova surely won't give up without a fight. Coral Springs does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
