Basketball Game Preview: Lake View Wild Gators vs. Dillon Wildcats

Lake View and Dillon are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Lake View Wild Gators just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Dillon Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Lake View is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Carvers Bay on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Lake View took a blow against Carvers Bay, falling 50-12. The Wild Gators were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-5.

Meanwhile, Dillon was just a bucket shy of victory last Saturday and fell 42-41 to Scott's Branch.

Lake View will have to contain Ayonna Lester as she made an impact in Dillon's last game. She went 8 of 17 on her way to 19 points along with seven boards and five steals. The dominant performance gave Lester a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Khwnylahi Mckinnon, who went 5 of 11 on her way to 10 points in addition to six assists and five boards.

Lake View's loss ended a 12-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-2. As for Dillon, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-3.

Lake View was able to grind out a solid win over Dillon when the teams last played back in January of 2024, winning 44-35. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lake View since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
