Basketball Game Preview: Seton Catholic Central Saints vs. Waverly Wolverines

The Seton Catholic Central Saints will head out on the road to take on the Waverly Wolverines at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Seton Catholic Central comes in on eight and Waverly on six.

Seton Catholic Central is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Chenango Forks: they outscored them in every quarter. Seton Catholic Central was the clear victor by an 84-62 margin over Chenango Forks on Saturday. The Saints pushed the score to 66-46 by the end of the third, a deficit the Blue Devils had little chance of recovering from.

Allan Eagles was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 32 points and 14 boards. Those 32 points gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Liam Kozel, who posted 12 points and three steals.

Seton Catholic Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Waverly got the win against Whitney Point on Saturday by a conclusive 68-44. The Wolverines have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 24 points or more this season.

Waverly's win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.2 points per game. As for Seton Catholic Central, their record now sits at 8-1.

Everything came up roses for Seton Catholic Central against Waverly in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, as the team secured a 91-41 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Seton Catholic Central since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
