Baseball Recap: Santa Monica Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

After soaring to 18 runs the game before, Santa Monica was a bit more limited in their contest on Saturday. They fell just short of the Simi Valley Pioneers by a score of 3-1. If the Vikings were looking for revenge after losing 11-1 to the Pioneers when the teams met back in May of 2021, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Eddie Jennings was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Isaac Liberman was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run was his first of the season.

Santa Monica's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-6. As for Simi Valley, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-5.

Santa Monica will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Lawndale at 3:15 p.m. on the 15th. As for Simi Valley, they are taking a road trip to challenge Oak Park at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Pioneers are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
